What a whirlwind summer this has been! In addition to hustling to stay ahead in this active real estate market, we have been spending time with family and friends and enjoying the perfect summer weather as much as possible. A quick trip to Tahoe and a camping trip to Lair of the Bear (all you Berkeley Alums will know what the Lair is!) were highlights. We feel like we jam packed so much fun into these last few months that the beginning of school can’t come soon enough!

There seems to be a shift in the atmosphere in the Valley this past week – not only has it been getting much cooler at night, but there is a certain something in the air that signals the beginning of harvest. Friends in the wine business are either already in full swing or are gearing up to begin the intense process that is harvest in the Napa Valley. We know that when this time comes around each year, a good percentage of our friends and community will be up and at work each day before we’re even out of bed, and home well past dark for at least the next 4-6 weeks. You know who you are and we applaud you for all your hard work. I’m sure we speak for many when we say we look forward to enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Speaking of hard work, the progress at the Four Seasons Napa Valley continues to move at such a fast pace – each day new structures are being roofed-in or sided and new details are emerging everywhere. If you are in the Valley and can drive north on Silverado Trail towards Calistoga, you can really get a sense of the scope of the project as well as a clear picture of the layout. It is such an exciting time for Calistoga and the entire Napa Valley to see this highly anticipated project coming to fruition. At this point we are expecting to start delivering the first homes in December of this year with most of the homes closing in early 2019. A soft opening of the resort is targeted for May with the hotel grand opening slated for Summer 2019.

With 17 of the 20 residences already sold, the opportunity to own at Four Seasons Napa Valley will only be available for a very short time. We currently have 2 three-bedroom and 1 four-bedroom homes available. If you are interested in discussing this unique offering, please reply to this email or call me anytime.

As always, I appreciate your business as well as your referrals. Kindly let me know if I can help in any way.

2018 HARVEST REPORT

group shot

As I mentioned above, the Valley is buzzing with the beginning of the 2018 harvest. Everyone seems to be running somewhere and conversations are (even more than usual) focused on what’s happening at the different vineyards and wineries. As is the case each and every year, we are looking forward to tasting the culmination of the long and tireless hours being put in now and for the next few weeks. If you’re interested in more of the technical side of Napa Valley harvest, I’ve attached 2 different articles that give a little more information. Click below and enjoy!

SUNFLOWERS FOR LESLIE RUDD

group shot

Most everyone driving through Napa Valley is in awe of the beauty of the vineyards, but if you’re lucky to be coming in the next few months, you’ll feel like you’re in Kansas instead of Napa Valley, at least if you’re driving along the Silverado Trail at Oakville Cross Road. A field of sunflowers has been planted in memory of the late Leslie Rudd. It’s an absolute must see if you ask me. Check out the heart warming story below, and if you’re anything like my wife Erin, you might want to grab a Kleenex.

UPVALLEY BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS RAISE $1M

group shot

This is another heart warming story coming out of our little Valley this month – the Boys & Girls Clubs of Calistoga and St. Helena raised over $1M at their annual fundraiser auction at Trinchero last week. With about 200 people in attendance, this was a record breaking year. The funds raised enable the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Helena and Calistoga to open doors for youth, both at the clubs and in life. Click the link below for more information.

FOUR WINERIES THAT ARE DOING THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY

group shot

If you’ve spent any time wine tasting in the Napa Valley, you know that you need to search a little bit to find the ‘special’ spots that speak to you. It’s not often that you just walk into a tasting room, no reservations, no preemptive planning, and absolutely fall in love – which is why we recommend putting a little thought into your tasting agenda, and which is also why we love this article. There seems to be an exciting trend going on in the Valley to do something unique – something new and never done before. We couldn’t love it more. And although we haven’t been to all four of the wineries mentioned in the article below, we have been to a couple of them and believe me, they don’t disappoint.

NAPA VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL LINE UP 2018

group shot

It’s Napa Valley Film Festival time again! We love this time of year. The Film Festival for us is the beginning of the Holidays – it takes place November 7-11, just before we all take off for Thanksgiving break and things really go crazy. This year’s lineup sounds especially diverse and interesting, including "Afghan women cyclists, American transgender soldiers, an underground abortion network, the saga of W.G. Snuffy Walden, and an African-American man named Reverend M.J. Divine who advocated for gender and economic equality in the early 1900s" (from the Napa Valley Register). Click the link below for a full run down and check back for ticket sales – you really should attend if you’re in the area!
