Auction Napa Valley, BottleRock, 4th of July pool parties overlooking vineyards, a cold glass of Rosé and a beet salad at the outside bar at Farmstead, cruising around town on your bike, hot days cooling off poolside at Solage, Thursday night bocce league where the food and wine is almost always better than the actual bocce playing…

… Friday morning Farmer’s Market at Crane Park where you always get a bag of the kettle corn, days far too hot to be outside so you opt for a movie at the Cameo instead, warm figs picked straight from the tree, sipping a cold glass of Sauv Blanc under the trees at Inglenook while the kids play with the boats, ahi poke tacos at Gotts. The list could truly go on and on, so these are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of Summer here in our little town of St. Helena. If you love summer in Napa Valley as much as we do, come for a visit. There is always so much to do, see, eat and of course, sip.

On the real estate front, new data released last week by Corelogic shows the median price paid for all homes sold in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo and Sonoma Counties in April 2016 hit a new high for the region at $686,000. The prior peak of $665,000 was achieved in June of 2007. However, when adjusted for inflation, the San Francisco Bay Area’s April 2016 median sales price was still about 14 percent below its peak. According to the article, “low mortgage rates, job growth and other drivers have stoked demand, but the supply of homes for sale – especially in the low to middle income price ranges – hasn’t kept pace, leaving many would-be buyers struggling with thin and increasingly expensive inventory.” This familiar story rings true in Napa Valley as well, as we continue to see limited inventory and well priced properties moving swiftly.

As always, I appreciate your business as well as your referrals. Kindly let me know if I can help in any way.

COUNTY GIVES TENTATIVE APPROVAL FOR WALT RANCH VINEYARD PROJECT

image 1

Walt Ranch, a 2,300 acre property located in the mountains between the city of Napa and Lake Berryessa along HWY 21, is one of a few controversial hillside vineyard projects (which include 16-acre Lazy Susan project on Petrified Forest Road northwest of Calistoga and the 20-acre Kongsgaard project on Atlas Peak Road northeast of Napa) that have been in the news lately. The Hall family (the same Hall family that owns Hall Wines in St. Helena) is proposing to create 356 acres of vineyards with a 507-acre total development area. Read below for more on what the Hall family is saying and also what the opposition is saying.

We enjoyed reading the article below on one of Napa Valley’s major players (and fellow parent and friend at St. Helena Montessori), Joe Wagner. We love that he’s breaking the mold and trying different things in the wine industry. It will be exciting to see what he does next.

AUCTION NAPA VALLEY RAISES $14.3 MILLION

group shot

We had an absolutely fabulous time at this year’s 36th Annual Auction Napa Valley, held at Meadowood Resort. Everything was over-the-top; from the wines being poured at each table as we walked around the live auction to the food artfully created by Chef Francis Mallmann (100+ feet of wire domes dangling prime rib, chicken & vegetables over burning fire pits, seen in the photo above) and the live Latin band that played well into the evening…to say we had fun would be an understatement. The event, aside from being spectacular in every way, was something much more – in that over $14.3MM was raised in support of 32 local charities and organizations. For more on the event, read below.
