The next stop as you head north on Highway 29 is the tiny hamlet of Rutherford, renowned for its extraordinary Cabernets. The unique terroir of the Rutherford viticulture area produces complex and distinctive wines that rival any European Bordeaux.

A visit to Francis Ford Coppola’s historic Inglenook Estate, featuring the Niebaum Coppola Winery and a museum dedicated to the story of Inglenook and the birth of cinema, is a must stop on any tour. For such a small town, the choice of restaurants in Rutherford is impressive, the most notable being the restaurant at Auberge du Soleil with arguably the best view of the Napa Valley (shown to the left, courtesy of Auberge du Soleil).
